The paan daan is a box that is part of the rituals
conducted to receive a guest in olde day Awadh.
Along with offers of 'chaay naush' the guest is offered 'paan'.
'Paan', a delicacy of raw betelnut leaf stuffed
with sweet and pungent powders & pastes and folded over into an artistic cone,
is consumed throughout the day and acts as a social icebreaker and glue.
